The HUAYU 3 Axle 100 Ton Heavy Duty Rear Dump Semi Trailer is built for work that would bend a standard tipper: blasted copper ore on the Copperbelt, granite out of Zimbabwe quarries, overburden on haul roads that see a hundred loaded cycles a week. The "100t" roundel stenciled on the body side is the rated payload class, and the build behind it is heavy throughout: an 8mm floor, 6mm side walls, three 13-ton FUWA axles on ten-layer leaf springs, and 12.00R20 deep-block mining tires. A genuine HYVA front telescopic cylinder does the lifting. This is the rear-dump configuration contractors ask for when a 60-ton unit stops being enough.

Rated 100 Tons: What the Extra Margin Is For

A standard 3-axle rear dump in this catalog rates 45 to 60 tons. This unit rates 100. The difference is thicker material in every load path, not a bigger number on a sticker.

The main beam is a 500mm Q345B I-section with reinforced flanges. Each leaf-spring stack runs ten 90 x 16mm leaves, and the hangers are doubled. Three 13-ton FUWA axles carry the group, with 16-ton units as an option, and the tires are a deep-block mining compound chosen for cut resistance, not highway miles.

A note on what 100 tons means in practice. On public roads, axle-load law decides what you may carry, and that figure is usually far lower. Where this trailer earns its price is on mine sites, quarries, and project roads where overload is normal and a lighter trailer cracks spring hangers or eggs its kingpin plate within a year. For the frame-side engineering behind these numbers, our semi trailer frame carrying capacity guide covers beam sizing in detail.

Rectangular Rock Body With a Reinforced Top Rail

The body is a rectangular rock bin, not a U-shape. Flat pressed-rib side walls and a flat floor give full box width for bucket loading, and the walls take a bolt-on liner later if your material turns more abrasive. Floor plate is 8mm high-tensile steel and side walls are 6mm. The red top rail visible along the body edge is a full-length stiffener, welded over the wall tops and headboard, sized for the day an excavator bucket drops a boulder on the edge instead of inside it.

The tailgate deserves a close look, because most spec sheets in this market skip it. Ours is a chain-latched gravity gate. Two chains tie the gate's top corners to the body. At rest they hold the gate shut against the rear frame. As the body rises, the geometry changes and the gate swings open on its own weight, metered by the chain length so the load pours in a controlled fan instead of one slam. No gate cylinders, no air lines, nothing to freeze or leak.

If your material is sticky clay or wet sand, a U-shape sheds cleaner, and we build those too in the tipper trailer category. For blasted rock, ore, and demolition spoil, the rectangular bin takes the abuse better and holds more for the same length.

Tractor Hydraulics: What Your Truck Needs to Lift It

Lifting is handled by a HYVA front-mount telescopic cylinder, the red multi-stage ram at the front of the body in the gallery photos. One thing first-time tipper buyers miss: the cylinder sits on the trailer, but the oil that feeds it comes from the tractor. The truck needs a PTO on the gearbox, a pump, and a hydraulic tank, like the black HYVA tank behind the cab in our photos. If your tractor already runs a tipper, it has the kit. If not, tell us the truck model and we quote the full PTO, pump, and tank set with the trailer.

For the cylinder-side engineering, including stage counts, lift angles, and why a front-mount ram beats an underbody hoist on a long body, the 3 axle U-shape rock body page carries the full write-up. The hardware here is the same HYVA front telescopic set.

Why This 100 Ton Unit Rides on Leaf Springs

Air suspension is an option across our tipper line, but the build in these photos runs heavy-duty mechanical leaf springs, and for this duty cycle that is the right default. Mining tracks eat airbags. Flying stone cuts the bellows, dust works into the height valves, and a punctured bag at a pit site means a loaded trailer sitting on its bump stops while a part ships from abroad. A ten-layer leaf stack has nothing to puncture, and any roadside mechanic between Ndola and Lubumbashi can swap a spring with hand tools.

The tradeoff is honest: empty ride is harsher, and the chassis feels corrugation more. On a unit that spends its life loaded at low speed on haul roads, the trade is worth it. If your operation is mostly paved highway with strict weighbridge checks, order the air-suspension variant instead.

Side markers and rear clusters are LED units seated in steel cages, because loaders and site vehicles clip unguarded lamps every week on a busy pit.

Who Actually Buys This Configuration

  • Mine and quarry contractors on the Copperbelt moving blasted ore and overburden between pit and crusher on private roads in Zambia and the DRC
  • Aggregate producers in Zimbabwe and Botswana feeding road projects, where the rectangular bin doubles for demolition spoil
  • Bauxite and laterite fleets in West Africa that standardize on 12.00R20 running gear and leaf springs for field serviceability
  • Dam and highway subcontractors in East Africa running overloaded cycles on project roads who need the 100-ton margin to survive it

We shipped a related end-dump build to a Zimbabwe operator last year. The Zimbabwe 4-axle end dump delivery shows how that fleet spec came together. If your site layout favors side discharge over rear tipping, read side tipper vs end tipper before you decide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 100 tons the legal road payload for this trailer?

No. The 100-ton figure is the structural rating of the trailer, the load the beam, springs, axles, and tires are sized to survive on mine and project roads. Legal payload on public roads is set by axle-load law in your country, roughly 9 to 13 tons per axle line, so the road-legal figure for a 3-axle group is much lower. Most buyers of this build run it on private mine routes where the full rating is usable. Tell us your route type and we will say honestly whether you need this margin or a lighter unit.

Why does this trailer use leaf springs instead of air suspension?

Because this rating is aimed at mining work. A 90 x 16mm ten-layer leaf stack has no airbags to puncture and no height valves to clog with dust, and any field mechanic can service it with hand tools. Air suspension rides better and protects the chassis on paved roads, and it is available as an option on this same body. If your cycles are mostly highway, choose air. If they are pit roads and blast debris, choose the springs as shown.

What does my tractor need to power the HYVA cylinder?

A PTO on the gearbox, a hydraulic pump, and an oil tank, the same kit any tipping outfit uses. The trailer carries the HYVA telescopic cylinder and the hose couplings. The oil supply lives on the tractor, exactly as in our photos with the tank mounted behind the cab. If your truck already works with tippers, it is ready. If not, send us the tractor model and we quote a matched PTO, pump, and HYVA tank kit with the trailer.

How does the chain tailgate open during tipping?

Automatically, by gravity. The two chains hold the gate shut while the body is down. As the ram lifts the front of the body, the geometry changes, the gate's own weight swings it open, and the chains meter how far it travels so the load pours in a controlled stream. There are no gate cylinders or air lines to maintain. Chain length is set at the factory and can be adjusted on site to change how wide the gate fans open.

What warranty comes with this trailer?

10-year warranty on the main beam, with a 1-year warranty on the body structure and welded joints. Component warranties follow the original manufacturer's terms (HYVA, FUWA, WABCO, JOST, Triangle, CHENGSHAN).

What are the payment terms?

30% deposit by T/T confirms your order; the 70% balance is paid before shipment. When your trailer is finished we send photos and videos of the actual unit, so you see what you bought before paying the balance. For larger orders we accept an irrevocable L/C at sight.
